Mariner Chain

The design of the mariner chain descends from the heavy iron chains used in maritime settings to anchor ships beneath the sea. The shape is characterised by interlocking round or oval links with a bar down the middle, whose weight and form evokes strength and durability. With its wealth of nautical symbolism, the mariner chain was adopted and adapted in the 1800s, when sailors and fishermen would use them to secure their good luck charms, before rising to popularity again in the 1980s.
