Antique Finish
In the Victorian era, durable yellow gold was applied to the reverse of a pendant or similar piece, to enhance its longevity. On its front, before the creation of white gold, silver was used; as the silver oxidised, it would take on an alluring depth through darker tones, which made featured diamonds appear to sparkle more.
This is the effect Lucy pays homage to with her Antique Finish. Rhodium, a very rare and highly reflective precious metal, is alloyed with other metals to create black rhodium. This, in turn, is electroplated to the surface of a piece, creating a sense of depth and contrast and evoking the spirit of antique Victorian jewels. An alternative to the Modern Finish.
Over time, and with exposure to the elements, the Antique Finish will fade. Lucy Delius offers a replating service, and will be happy to replate it for you.
